In a market that may be crashing these are some things me personally id still buy. Of course im not          telling you to, im suggesting you research an form your own opinion.  Companies that held tough during the last      crash which legitimately should have and did. Such as ROL, MCD, CWT,. Companies that havnt raced high up        with the market since the crash, such as EXC, TOT, T, PBR, NEE. Of course all of which have good underlying        fundamentals. Also solid companies that pay a good dividend, to where even in a crash the rising div percentage    would make for great dollar cost averaging while reinvested, such as MO, RAI, ADC, BPT.     Just my thoughts, i hope it aroused new ideas and thoughts for some one else.        * suggestions for your further research      * i am long on every company listed

I watch my CAPS picks.  I admittedly din't do hours of research for each and every CAPS pick, but I put in a little time on each one.

I put in enough time on many of them to have formed a favorable opinion about their long-term prospects and their financial strength, profitability, and competitive advantages (3 terms that get regurgitated a lot in anything I write).

If these 3 factors remain unchanged, picks I've made become ever more attractive to me the deeper in the red they go...for obvious reasons.

Incidentally, that's why, when a company catches my attention because it seems to be a great company with a well-covered dividend, I'll make it a pick whether it's just off its 52-week low or just off its 52-week high.

Do I play this game to win?  No.

Do I use the information I gather here?  YES!

If DRI, my last company that I pitched (and close to a 52-week high) starts dropping, I'm not exactly sad about it.

The deeper in the red it gets, the higher the yield from that wonderfully well-covered, safe dividend is, if everything else remains unchanged.  Let it fall.

I'll care, all right...but not about my CAPS score.  The more it falls, the more it makes me want it.

i think the same way you do brother. its to bad that the fool game doesnt let you DOUBLE pick a stock to act in the way as if you bought more if it dropped. thats what i teach people- judge the company so if it drops you actually get happy and buy more and the dividend becomes more powerful. hell, some companies id be happy to never see the share price change.

That's true.  A dividend solidly backed by earnings or cash flow only gets better if the price falls.  Sometimes the price can fall a lot and stay down for quite awhile, too.

It can get quite ridiculous, can't it?  I highlighted one of these recently in DRI, which, while the price hadn't fallen (it was  and is still near a 52-week high), was only rated 2 stars here in CAPS.

Which only goes to show how much those of us that invest instead of speculating on price movements pretty much have our own playground all to ourselves.
