What's up with Vonage?

August 25, 2009 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: VG

From 60 cents to $1.60 today!

All on news that they are now giving away calls to 60 countries? Can anyone explain the business sense of this to me? I don't get it!

Can't wait until tomorrow so I can reopen my underperform call on these guys...

As is usually the case I am good at catching falling knifes (52w intra-day low was at $0.31 on March 2), but not that good at ending the "outperform" calls. It is currently at ca. $1.67. I switched the call to "market perform" less than 6h ago when VG was at ca. $0.89.

Was lucky enough to get in on this ride at .57 on Mon. It was either VG or SIRI.  Since Sirius went from an intra-low of 5cents to 75cents I knew its run would be over.  VG intra-low was 30cents and could more or less easily hit $3.

Vonage advertised world-wide calling and knowing how many people I know buying fon-cards this would be a big hit!  Unfortuntely calling Philippines is still 13cents/min :(
