A few different reason materialsman with the most important being gasoline.

Fact = every one penny rise at the pump is 1 billion less in the consumers' pockets. If you do the math over the past month you will come up with a very large number that could have gone to food, clothing, etc.

War. The market nevers responds to war positively (initially). Over the long term the market has usually performed very well through times of war but never when it is first announced.

Europe. Yeah I know. I'm pretty sick of hearing about it too, but think Spain and Italy. I think a potential default is on the horizon.

China trims growth to 7.5%. Commodities rolled over along and there are other cracks and leaks showing up in the market (small caps, housing stocks, etc).

Another great tune:

There's no stopping us right now.

Get your dry powder ready my friend and keep it dry for the time being, there will be some sales again in this market. GL
