I was on the internet on August 4, 2015 and came across this Vancouver Sun article Russia submits claim for 1.2-million square kilometres of the Arctic …including the North Pole By Vladimir Isachenkov, Douglas Quan & The Associated Press August 4, 2015

"Canada, Russia, the U.S., Denmark and Norway have all been trying to assert jurisdiction over parts of the Arctic, which is believed to hold up to a quarter of the planet’s undiscovered oil and gas. Rivalry for Arctic resources has intensified as shrinking polar ice is opening new opportunities for exploration."

Northern Hemisphere from above the North Pole

While Russia and Denmark has used diplomacy and forwarded claims to the UN, Canada has held on submission of claims and is in further process of strengthening its claims and in the mean time have uploaded educational videos on their websites. Three of their videos are found below enjoy "Journey Into the Arctic - Leaving port", it's an interactive video.

The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867 and Alaska was admitted as the 49th state of the United States on January 3,1959, hasn't forwarded claims yet to the best of my knowledge but the Americans has already made their point to the Dutch. Three videos of Royal Dutch Shell protest found below.
