Through the end of November 2011, the tally was Paul, $80,500, The President, $71,492. Romney,$12,700.   http://anepigone.blogspot.com/2012/01/campaign-contributions-by-candidate.html

Since the second quarter your President is ahead of your candidate $51,492 to $45,500.

Clearly you value, and judging by this post, believe that we should also value the opinions of our Military personel as expressed by campaign contibutions, when considering who to elect President.

Please keep us up to date, even if this is the last time the data shows the Military supporting your candidate ahead of your President.

If Ron Paul does not win the Republican nomination do you think he will endorse the candidate who gets the most financial support from Military personel?

Should we consider voting based upon that support also?

Best wishes,

Steven,

You cockiness never ceases to amaze me. So far Ron Paul has received more donations from the military overall than Obama. And no, he shouldn't endorse Obama unless Obama actually ends some wars and brings the troops home.

The importance of the military supporting Paul is because people often attack Ron Paul for being "isolationist," which as you know, is absurd. The military has donated more funds to the candidate advocating an immediate withdrawal than anyone else.

In light of the political attacks on President Obama, I guess there is also some importance to the Military personel's financial support of President Obama's re-election too.

Best wishes,

Attacks for what? When asked point blank at GOP debates whether or not they agree with Obama's military actions (drone strikes, Libya War, etc), all GOP candidates except Ron Paul agree with Obama's hawkish policy.  If Obama is attacked at all on foreign policy, it's usually for not being bloodthirsty enough wtih Iran.

I do think it's safe to say that the military leans toward Obama over Establishment Right.  But to even suggest that he is as favored or more favored among the military than Ron Paul is to live in a fantasy world that only devoish could occupy.

David in Liberty,

Fantasy? Pencils posted a video counting financial support to the Candidates as a measure of support claiming they showed support for Ron Paul. I just helped clarify what those numbers really are.

At 1:50 in to the video Ron Paul says that if you go to war and risk your own limbs and life then he believes that shows you are sincere about your reasons to fight that war.

It is a nice talking point. Another good talking point would be to claim that you are sincere about your reasons for not fighting a war because you burned your draft card.

I think that at different times and places, both decisions can be right.

As it stands, Ron Paul supporters, You and Pencils, are raising his service as part of your political campaign. The video talks about risking life and limb. Wikipedia says that Ron Paul served in the Air Force as a flight surgeon (doing check-ups?) from 63-65 and then joined the Air National Guard in 65 when the US air bases in Vietnam began taking hits and ground troop levels began increasing as the Vietnam war was breaking out. Former President Bush was accused of hiding from risking life and limb in the Texas Air National Guard. And frankly, I heard that nobody even remembered him showing up for that duty.

They have a lot in common, between the small gov speeches, and the Air National Guard. I would like to hear your candidate describe his actual service. Times, dates, places, paperwork, did he request the transfer home?

I would also like to hear him describe his support for the care of vets. What authority the President has to provide for retired military personel, where the funding will come from, how he will ensure its funding sixty years from now against the politics of cutting taxes and small Government, when he is long gone and the tax cutters are still around and the vets still need care.

PS. as you know I am supporter of universal healthcar, or medicare for all, which would provide for the vets too, while reminding us that we are one Country.

Best wishes,

Steven
