TMFSinchiruna writes a blog post dedicated to 100ozRound's excellent accomplishment: Homage to the #1 Optimist in CAPS. This is a great post whose only purpose is to celebrate an excellent accomplishment. Well done 100ozRound!

Sinch and 100ozRound are Gold investors. Many of 100ozRound's are picks in Gold. So obviously this is a big theme in the post.

Maybe you don't like Gold?

My point is: if you are going to dump on Gold (and people do all the time, and that is 100% fine by me. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion) do you have to do so on a post that is specifically congratulating somebody? Is your vitriol so intense that you just can't save it for some other blog post?

The guy is a perfect example of the attitude of public officials (and lawyers... what a combo!) toward the market and toward free individuals.  How dare we "run up" the price of gold with our uneducated speculation?  Why, he knows better than all of us and has been ordained as so by the religion of the State.  He knows what is right, which is whatever he and his fellow ministers of the State decide is right.

(Nevermind that his government is the biggest gold hoarder in America and could make the price of gold plummet by selling gold to the free individuals that desire it.  But they would rather hoard it all.)

We are deifnitely on the same page with Gold.

I just wanted to point out that on a very positive congraluatory blog is probably the douchiest place to write a snarky and dissenting opinion regarding the subject in question. This applies to Gold in the post in question, but it would apply equally to any subject.

Fore example, I am no fan of the Dollar as a store of value. But if somebody has been sucessfully trading the Dollar had has a successful Caps score showing that to be the case, and a third person writes a post calling attention to the achievement, I would have to be a real a$$hat to write a Dollar-hating comment on that post..

Not that this blog is necessarily about me or anything, but more about other people's behavior in general, I appreciate y'all speaking up here.  I'm sure you would do it for anyone that shows class on this website - even those that heartily disagree with you in a classy way.

Ron,

I saw your comment and his rude retort on his blog.  I'm not sure he has any idea that binve shredded him one blog above his.  And personally, I think it's funnier if he doesn't know.  Typical gov/law type.... very in touch with the common folk, ya know...

Why bother worrying what the people think?  They're all idiots to him.  If he keeps this up, he'll be Secretary of Some Important Cabinet one day, planning our glorious future.

Have you read Codevilla's essay on the Ruling Class?  It fits this clown to a tee.  Best part about it, when abitare posted the essay, our resident stooge just couldn't stop himself from saying how ridiculous the whole thing was, and how stupid we are for reading it.

That pretty much sums up his ability to post insightful comments. After I shamed him here, he disappeared for a while, but now and again he pops up, just to tell us how much smarter he is than anyone who likes outdated things like liberty, sound money, and not being raped in the backside by parasites like him.

binve - I had a nice comment for your post but lost it when I navigated around pondering why I don't own more gold/silver...

In short...show the haters the scoreboard! Since April 19, 2010 SLW has given me a 54.65% return. I attribute that to keeping an open mind to all viewpoints.

Even though we might disagree on some things the purpose of "the game" for me is to score points...or get a solid return on my money. Keeping an eye on the performance of someone like 100oz is just good policy regardless of your view of gold, currencies or the state of our economy.

Yeah, I know he's normally at ends with you guys on gold, but I thought that was...um...not real cool.  I'd actually like for him to answer your question of "Why?"  Unless we hear otherwise, I'll just assume it was a bit of [hey, don't forget about me.  I'm #4 on the outperform list] showboating.

That being said, I'd rather have him around than not have him around.  I realize I might be in the minority with this one on this particular blog post.  I have so much respect from a stock picking stance for anyone who can keep a 99+ score, let alone a 99.9+ score.  As much as I enjoy reading blogs about economic theory and macro views, I ultimately come to this website to learn more about stock picking.  I don't intend for this comment to offend anyone, and I hope nobody takes it as such.

RonChapmanJr,

I very much agree with you. Most people do not understand the value of gold and silver, especially in today's world.

But what I don't understand is why someone needs to be an active hater on a post that is not hurting anybody or anything and is entirely positive regarding a subject which already has active haters with views well established especially right here in Caps.

Was anything new said? Was a good or salient point made? No. He just wanted to take a big crap in the punch bowl as Starfire points out.

whereaminow,

Totally agreed man

100ozRound ,

Hey man! Again, congrats my friend.

>>even those that heartily disagree with you in a classy way.

Exactly! I have had very good debates / disagreements with people here, that have been entirely civil. Sometimes at the end of the day, we have to agree to disagree, and that's okay! Keeping a debate on topic and not being attacking is always the key to making an effective argument, and I will stick up for anybody who does so even if I disagree with their stance.

I have no patience for haters and for people who take pot shots, especially when it was in response to a very positive post.

Thanks man!

Right on!

Any argument that is made constructively is useful. There is always some kernel of truth to anybody's point of view. Earlier in Caps I was not always as open-minded / more dismissive as I am today. Even if I have a particular viewpoint on the economy, I will listen to others arguments even if I don't agree with them. We are all here trying to uncover the facts about the world we invest in. And to do that effectively we need to listen to each other and even if we disagree / dissent to be civil about it.

That is what I try to do. Not always successfully. But that is my goal.

Thanks!..

Totally agreed. I have particular views on the economy, macro, certain stocks, Gold, etc. There are very few people that I completely agree with, and there are very few people that agree with me. That does not give me the right to bash arguments that I disagree with. The most effective way to make an argument is to make an argument, not to simply tear down someone elses.

None of us (especially me) has all the answers, and so an open forum free of vitriol is what we need to discuss our investing environment. If anybody wants to hate on a stock or Gold, do it on your own blog. There is no need to go onto everybody else blog who you disagree with and call them idiots...

in all seriousness man, You can't let aholes like that guy bother you. They are  everywhere and there is nothing out there that doesn't have some sort of haters. Even Bottle Nose Dolphins

All you are doing by calling him out is giving him the undeserved attention he probably wants while making yourself upset. I bet most people didn't even notice what he was doing until you brought it up. ;)

For reals man, if people hate your stances (or stances you like) on Gold and TA and are uncivil about it then just ignore them.  Can't let the haters keep you down and obscure all the meaningful interaction that is also present. All you'll do is make yourself miserable and waste your time.

Life's too short man.

I know what you mean. And I debated even writing this post. I normally ignore haters. I write posts and I often get antagonistic comments and I usually ignore them.

But this was really uncalled for, because the post was a positive and congratualtory post. So I am not calling him out for hating per se, I am calling him out for doing it a the sh**iest time. There are a millions posts that you can hate gold one. Why do it on a post that is specifically recognizing someone's achievement?

That was too much. Which is ultimately why I did decide to write the post.

Thanks bro!..
