Would Warren Buffett Buy These Stocks?

March 30, 2012 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: MA , TROW , LULU

I see no need to rehash the legendary performance of Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B), since investors across the board have long heard about his long-term investment results and successes. What I want to do with this article is to discuss stocks that may be similar to what Buffett typically buys.

BRK.B has stakes in insurance, finance, railroads, publishing, retailing, manufacturing and other businesses. In his rare public remarks and widely followed annual letters to Berkshire shareholders, Buffett makes it sound very simple: he says he buys stocks that are "available at a sensible price." The term "sensible price" does not mean PE ratio. Instead, it would be better thought of as a reasonable price based of the discounted future value.
