I discovered a Stock last week that sounded so interesting I added it to CAPS and put real money into it on Friday. They describe themselves as the “nation's only independent nuclear power plant developer.” Do any of you know about Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc. (AEHI)? Please provide any insights to the company you might have before I invest so much money and wish I didn't!

I added the company to CAPS on Friday and my alternate personality MostlyChina  is now the score leader. Not hard to do since I am the only one who picked the stock so far. In CAPS I got the stock for $0.51, in my real portfolio I bought it for $0.52. On Friday it closed at $0.56. Nice one day return.

Everything I have read about the company looks legitimate so far. The future value of the company depends largely on the approval of a Nuclear Power plant they want to build in Idaho. If final approval is received the stock would probably really jump. There are numerous articles on the Internet that follow every vote of the Payette County Planning and Zoning Commission, such as this one from nuclearstreet.com. If local and federal approval is received it will cost up to $10 Billion to build the plant. The company says “In short, after phase one, AEHI will have a $1.5 billion asset and a nearly $10 billion asset after phase two — in either case, a very profitable proposition.” http://www.alternateenergyholdings.com/projects/faq.aspx

In January 2010 Don Gillispie the President, CEO and Chairman of AEHI met with the Prime Minister of South Korea Un-Chan Chung to discuss the possibility of “importing of Korean-made nuclear reactors into the U.S. Market.” Mr Gillispie has over 45 years of Nuclear Power experience. He “received an executive MBA from the MIT’s Sloan School of Business” and even “was an instructor in MIT’s nuclear executive program.”

In June 2010 AEHI announced that they signed a MOU with “Hyperrion power to manufacture small nuclear reactors in China and market world-wide”. Hyperion Power Generation is based in New Mexico.

On July 15, 2010 AEHI “announced the company is preparing for a move to a senior U.S. stock exchange in response to rapid progress towards local approval for the Company's planned nuclear reactor in Idaho, as well as growing global interest in the Company's Green World Water(TM) desalinization reactor. AEHI believes it substantially meets the requirements to uplist to a senior U.S. stock exchange.”

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/aehi-takes-steps-to-uplist-to-senior-us-stock-exchange-2010-07-15?reflink=MW_news_stmp

The company's “Other projects include Energy Neutral(TM), which removes energy demands from homes and businesses (http://www.EnergyNeutralinc.com) Colorado Energy Park (nuclear and solar generation), and Green World Water(TM), which assists developing countries with nuclear reactors for power generation (http://www.GreenWorld-H2O.com), production of potable water and other suitable applications. AEHI China, headquartered in Beijing, develops joint ventures to produce nuclear plant components and consults on nuclear power. “

Remember I really know nothing about nuclear power or the approval process. This just looks like an interesting stock to me. I sure hope Iran doesn't become a major stockholder though! LOL. The risk/reward ratio on this makes me willing to invest a few thousand dollars. I'm hoping somebody out there knows something about it that I am missing. Please let me know if I should take my 8% gain from Friday and, to quote Steve Miller from 1976,”Go on take the money and run”!!!

Very, very dangerous.  You just don't let beginners build nuclear power plants.  Mitsubishi, AREVA, CANDU...OK, but no one learns how over a long weekend.

The probability of governmental approval has to be very low.

Donnernv,

You have a good point, the company has only been around since 2005. But on a positive note the CEO has 45 years of Nuclear Power experience. Hopefully he knows the right people to get the approval done.

Ya know, just being a little bit of a skeptic, I decided to go to MIT.edi and do a search on this Gillispie gentleman.  Zero hits.  For grins, I searched for my daughter who was a recent MIT undergrad graduate.  Hmmmmm.... lots of hits.  Now, my daughter isn't the CEO of a company, nor has she pronounced herself to have a resume that should get the attention of the Chinese premiere, the governor of Idaho, and the head of every federal energy agency in the Federal government.

Now, I'm a proud dad and I think the world of my little girl, but she doesn't have 45 years of supposedly being the supreme expert of any industry.  (At least not yet!!!)

I dunno. one would think that if this Gillispie fellow were a proud son of MIT, (and there are many) he'd have at least one item referring to him on the MIT website.  I dunno.  Maybe I should be a lot prouder of my daughter's accomplishments than I am.  Does that make me a bad dad or justifiably suspicious of this guy's resume?

If the guy shouldn't be imprisoned for fraud, then he'll never get anything approved in Idaho with this kind of behavior.  I wonder if he was going to be under oath.

The famous 3 minutes of analysis (and the same in the writeup):

Stock: Price & Prelim Thoughts

It trades on .pk Personally I won't buy anything on there, especially anything without revenue because I don't like being part of pump 'n dump schemes.

price wise it is high. sounds kind of funny at $0.56 but the company has run under $0.40 a share for most of it's history and only recently popped over that mark. The pop started at $0.09.

business

"a development stage company, focuses on the purchase, optimization, and construction of green energy sources primarily nuclear power plants in the United States. The company, through its subsidiaries, develops and markets clean energy sources. Its other projects include Energy Neutral, which lowers energy demands from homes and businesses; Colorado Energy Park, a nuclear and solar generation project; and International Reactors, which assists developing countries with nuclear reactors for power generation, production of potable water, and other applications. The company was founded in 2005 and is based in Eagle, Idaho."

sounds nice but none of this seems innovative and they have large competitors in every field. That said this business is growing, and will likely continue to do so, so there may be room for them. If they could ever sell anything (see below) they might be a buyout candidate.

income statement

- still no reliable profits. In fact they have been flat or red in the last 4 quarters and red for the past 4 years and probably (haven't dug this far) since inception. This is a red flag to me

- still havent actually had any revenue. Yet they manage to rack up some $2-4M in "selling and administrative expenses" probably for the CEO's new yacht.

- share dilution is horrible!!!!!!!!!! (sorry to look like Alstry but this is a massive red flag for a .pk company with no revenue.)

balance sheet

- nothing interesting here. no debt, no assets other than cash from selling shares.

cash flow

- OCF is in the red

I think you just stumbled upon a pump 'n dump. At least that is what I see here. If it is a real company you could do quite well but I would seriously question buying it at all. I would much rather put the money into TOF (which is my all time favorite micro cap) when it goes under $1.80 (my origional purchase price; i stupidly sold at $2.40).

Obviously this isn't comprehensive and JMO, but hopefully it helps some.

Ozzfan1316,

Sometimes penny stocks pay off. Like I bought Nevada Geothermal Power (NGLPF) last year for about $0.62 and sold it around $1.10. I bought my first JOEZ shares for $0.60, and they got as high as $3.60. But most of the time they are a gamble because it seems more go down than go up.

First off, I am not affiliated with AEHI but do work in the nuclear generation industry.  Mr. Gillispie is a real person and does have a long resume within the field, including being one of the founding members of INPO.  Which right after the NRC is the second largest "watchdog" of the industry.

I have personally traded this stock several times over the last couple years with mixed results.  The "pop" this time seems to be coming from real momentum in building their dream plant.  While yes it is true that is will not happen over night and it will take more then twenty some employees, I think they have alot of the right pieces in place.

I think you could daytrade this stock for a couple quick bumps, but I am hedging on making a big strike on this one if their dream ever come true.

Why Idaho?

Ever look at a map?  Idaho has like one city and a few ski villages ... the state is surrounded by ... nothing that uses electricity  ..... considering we cant create a grid that runs from Niagara Falls to NYC without brown outs .... what would you do with a reactor in Idaho?

 IT"S REACTOR COUNTRY !!!

That is why the Chinese picked it ... More nuclear reactors have been built in Idaho than anywhere else in the world.

It's the site of the  World's First Nuclear Power Plant.

"A historical marker at a scenic pull-off brags that "Since 1949, more nuclear reactors -- over 50 of them -- have been built on this plain than anywhere else in the world." "

If the previous two posts aren't pump-n-dump posts, they sure smell fishy.  For instance, it is true that more nukes have been built in Idaho than any other state.  That's a very deceptive statement in the context of this post.  Almost every one of those reactors were built for research purposes and were never used for commercial power generation.  Almost every one of them has been decommissioned.

This stock is seeming more and more to be about rampant speculation rather than any rational investment.

Glad to hear you got out safely & with a decent profit on a penny stock.

I'm not as lucky as you because I bought penny stock of Nevada Geothermal last year when it was high. It then crashed and remains struggling.  I'm holding on till I at least break even or sell at a loss if it drops down a couple of cents lower.

I played it as a gamble. I'm losing the bet so far.

My other gamble penny stock is Naikun Wind Energy- traded on the Cdn Venture Exchange. It is being developed by British Columbia's (Canada) aboriginal native community.  I wanted to support their cause in green energy development for my now home Province. I'm hanging in tight on this one for the future prospects.
