This story struck me as quirky, perhaps a little obvious, but also worth noting and giving more thought to.

Algorithm looks to past to predict future health conditions

With predictive modeling becoming de rigueur in healthcare, this was bound to happen. Just as Netflix or Amazon can predict the movies or books you'd like based on your past purchases, a new algorithm can predict future ailments based on the patient's history ...

Sure, this is exactly what doctors are for and have been doing for a very very long time.  But .. this may well engage the patient more, and give the physician a backstop / basis for communicating concerns.  I think this is another one of those rare items with implications beyond its current news value.

You're correct to point out this this idea has been in palce for a long time now but continues to be expanded upon every year with advance of technology and understanding of disease factors/process.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in regards to the insurance world. e.gif companies start increasing premiuims and/or don't insure people based on their likelihood of developing acertain ailment. I definitely see many court battles on the horizon ha ha!

Interesting stuff, thanks fro sharing. +1.
