I won't be like everyone else who put a thumbs up, in short: Fundamentals. period.
However, there are reasons why Apple will continue to dominate the smartphone market:
Personal opinion: The iPhone has become a fashion statement. Though the iPhone has very competitive features such as high ppi, great camera quality, and a fast processor. There is no doubt that the iPhone is "cool". If you look at the hundreds of reviews online for the iPhone 5, you will see that many people have trouble describing the phone but "beautiful". The iPhone is beautiful, even I can't describe it. The cool aluminium backing and the thin slick design: it is beautiful. Though many people disregard it, every single exterior feature has been put in consideration such as where the camera or where the headphone port was placed. This is why Apple will dominate the smartphone market in China. Brand name is very important in Asia where luxurious items go for many times more than what they go for in the United States. Luxurious fashion items like Louis Vuitton and Gucci are the perfect example. They go for a lot more in China than they do in the U.S.. Though there will be many copy-cats, the real brand will continue to dominate.
