YouTube is big. But we can't invest directly in YouTube, because Google owns it. If only there was some way to get in on YouTube or some of the technology it uses...

Ever pay attention to how YouTube plays its videos? The player there, and the YouTube embedded player, and video players used on many other sites, are all called "Flash Players." They're called that because they're written to run inside Flash, a Web browser plugin that runs on every common computer platform and most people have installed on their systems. Next time you're on YouTube, control-click (or right-click) on the player window and look at what company's name pops up.

Adobe owns Flash, they bought Macromedia to get it. They sell tools to make those players, and many other things that run inside Flash. They also own the #1 photo editing software, the #1 cross-platform publishing software, and publish a lot of other expensive-but-necessary category-leading software.
