A horrible accident at their Coffeen, IL power plant in 2003 in which Ameren was negligent three times over and that resulted in the death of a 29 yr old contracted commercial diver and father was settled this year for millions. Clearly, the company is cutting costs even if it means their employees are at risk. In the short term, they may make good numbers for a utility. But, the fundamental Ameren culture will need to be altered or else they will be the next BP (2005 BP Explosion killed 15 people). As an aside, I firmly believe OSHA needs some teeth.

Also remember the Taum Sauk Disaster in 2005 when the reservoir collapsed in southeast Missouri. Luckily this happened in December when no one was at the state park and only injured a family that lived nearby.

Thank you for filling me in! I recent sold 1,000 shares of Ameren (for other reasons), but now I am glad that I did... There is no joy in seeing a dividend, or gain, when blood stains it. I am so sorry, when things like this happen. I was concerned about Ameren maintaining their infrastructure, because I lost power twice. in the last year or two... I had to stay in bed, covered with blankets. At first, I thought that investing in AEE would help them to rebuild and provide me with income, but not unless they keep their priorities straight. I have already sold the real stuff, so now I'll "end" my fool position. Thank you, again!

oh please you pinhead , accidents happen . A couple of accidents for a company who has a huge infrastructure to maintain and a few thousand employees is minor . I'm sure if you ran it there would never be a accident . It would be perfect like you , please .
