One of the few ways for average retail investors to participate in the early stages of company growth. I find it difficult to evaluate financials, but think that ROE (high, at over 22%) should be a good indicator of performance.

The mortgage scare has crossed over into all forms of lending, making it difficult for companies to borrow money. A well run company with a proven track record like AINV should find excellent opportunities in this market.

Great dividend payer that has a zero tax drag on its earnings as long as it distributes 90% or more of its earnings every year. Also, they invest in / loan money to smaller companies that I would never have access to otherwise.

Going with HG Team on this. Good valuation relative to other BDC companies (ACAS, ALD, ARCC) . I think the recent credit compression will make BDC services (i.e. mezzanine, and bridge loans) to middle market companies will lead to increased pricing...
