Long term play in the Hawaiian real estate market. On the surface, ALEX looks like a maritime shipping and coffee/ pinapple grower...which it is. But underneath the balance sheet, the market value of its land holdings (reported as "book" on the books) are FAR greater than the stock price shows. Meanwhile, nice steady earnings and growth. KEEPER!
400 shares of A&B is equal to 1 acre of mostly Maui land and don't forget the real estate part ,property management and comercial holdings. The Hawaii land is valued on the books at the price they paid around 100 years ago they are the best developer in Hawaii as they know how to appeal to the locals and the affluant mainlanders almost every project they want to build is approved by the way 10,000 sq ft lots go for around 350kto 500k depending on location
