A drug given less often cuts costs for the medical establishment and time for the doctor. Furthermore, as increasing numbers of drugs go off patent, it offers incentive to use a more expensive older product, thus effectively increasing the life of a drug. Furthermore, they are tied in to many products that should be hits in the near future.
