Ameritrade has made investing as easy and fun as eBay. Excellent service and value -- fees are very reaonable, and I believe that for prospective investors with significant assets to manage, a $9.99 per trade fee is actually more reassuring than a "No Fee" approach (would you leave your children at a service that watched them for free?) Not all online brokerage services are going to be here in 5 years, and TD/ Ameritrade's rock-solid presence, if not a moat, is an enormous advantage when it comes to courting new clients, many of whom are not "internet savvy" enough to ferret out the lowest-cost brokers and find the analysis tools at various sites. Finally, the Ameritrade investment seminar I attended was an excellent, useful event, and PACKED.
