If pure business excellence was the sole criteria I were using, Amazon would be one of my "Monsters of Greatness" stocks that I'd want to hold for the next 25 years. Shoulda been in years and years ago. Others in my collection - note I'm media, food and TMF newsletter heavy - could include:

Woops - cut DWA - they really suck arse and I just sold them from my real life port after realizing that Kung Fu Panda is cliche-ridden, soul-less, money making dreck. Shrek had a soul, but Katzenberg doesn't seem to understand how important that is to these movies. Bee Movie was an outrage. Now, this KFP looks to be unsalvageable, with a story so stupid as to have no human truth whatsoever. I didn't really love Ratatouille, but there was a soul in there, and I believed the rat genuinely cared about cooking and food in general.

Other than selling a lot of stuff, Amazon has accomplished nothing in 10 years!

I guess the concept of "same-store-sales" doesn't apply to e-tailers like Amazon. They just keep adding selection -- electronics, groceries, womens handbags, music, kindle, jewelry -- all new! Now they are adding office supplies and knitting materials.

Lots of revenue growth with nothing else. Expect poor profitability to contine.
