AVI BioPharma, Inc. (AVII)

I'm not confident enough in this pick to buy it in real life, but I'm trying to increase my CAPS volume and I'm running out of small cap biotechs. Basically, it seems that AVI has too much going on for a 128M market cap. The flipside is that it could be another Introgen, always talking loud but saying nothing. I'm not happy with the progress made in the anti-restenosis pipeline this year. Then again, the antiviral stuff for the DOD was encouraging. The low cash reserve indicates an upcoming dilutional financing, but that doesn't seem to damage stock prices much at these low market caps. I think the stock has a good chance to shoot up after the dilutional financing, especially with any good news coming from one of their multiple trials.
