I am afraid to say BAC, like C, is technically insolvent.

so it might go up or down, but - like GM - this is completely dependent on the good will of the Fed Govt.

there is a decent chance that the Govt's hand will be forced, du...

Losses from the acquisition of Contrywide and Merryll Lynch are still not uncovered fully and will haunt BAC for some time to come. Despite Lewis' pledge that no more bailout money is needed, we'll see BAC come back to the government within the next ...

I own a good bit of this in my retirement account.

I need this to be true so I can be comfortable.
That is all. This is my "BAC won't be nationalized, everything will be okay in 2-5 years, and I won't be poor" play.

Financials will lead the charge out of this recession. The banking system is the root cause. Financials will have to outperform the S&P for the rest of the market to be pulled back up in tow.

BAC isn't particularly "sexy," and the stock isn't poised to have wild upswings in price, but it's a solid financial institution with a nice dividend. I certainly think it'll beat the market over the next five years.

All it does is go up and up and up some more. I don't know if I have seen a more consistent uptrend over the past 5 years than BAC. Throw in a good dividend and a low P/E and what is not to love.

Although I currently bank with Citibank, I think that with BoA's free trade campaign and creative incentives, they will quickly become the number one financial services institution in the US.
