I have heard the tall tales. "If you could just sell every Chinese person a Q-Tip you would be set for life". But markets don't work like that and neither do companies. This company is selling at a P/E of 100. If Jesus was running a company I bet some of you would not value it at a 100 P/E. Google is the closest thing to a mythical company and it is selling at a P/E of 50. Thumbs down here until this company comes back to the sane price of a 50 P/E.

Sound like one of the poster on Yahoo's Bidu board. I agree with you but apparently there are people? don't agree and the price reflect this. I am short on this one in real life at 95, let's see when does this happen. I have until January

Don't short stocks that are still going up. Wait until they start going down. I think BIDU still has legs and will continue to go up.

Ok, I am getting killed on my BIDU short. So what. I am sticking with it. This thing is just completely outrageous and I am going to prove I am only -50 points wrong on this one.

I am crazy! I am crazy! But I am not giving up! Down to $200 soon!

if you expect earnings to double 3 years in a row, then you are talking about a 12.5 P/E going forward. You don't think that Chinese internet use is still in its infancy?
iammothrastewart (51.37) Submitted: 10/03/07 4:14 AM
des52, exactly. Wait till a stock goes on a climax run and then breaks. This could be the climax run here, but the market WILL remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. So, wait for the break.

HANG IN THERE!!

If Jesus were running a company, he'd be going into the retail outlets and smashing the cash registers and yelling at the sales associates. That's not good for business--I'd want a pretty low P/E. As for Baidu, I own this in real life and I was about to "blink" and sell after reading this article:http://www.fool.com/investing/international/2007/10/19/get-o...But this article makes a tempting case for hanging in there:http://www.fool.com/investing/international/2007/10/24/get-i... Judging by the number of recs, more people agree with the bear than the bull. Earnings come out tomorrow evening--let's see what happens...

Earnings blew estimates away, stock price still flying high. I'll hang in there; my position is a small one--I don't have much to lose.

I keep adding to my BIDU position every month or so; did so today. I had a limit order at $360 but it doesn't look like it's going to get that low. This is the one stock that rarely dips--even on down days it goes up. I crossed my fingers last time I added to my position at around $310 just last month and I wasn't disappointed. I say jump on board and hold on tight, and all you shorts better cover up.

what if it's at 50 next year based on earning growth? would you buy or would you think that it's overvalued because the growth is not sustainable? What was Google's PE when it came public and what would it have been had you known what it's actual earnings growth turned out to be?BTW I don't think that Jesus was a capitalist

I refuse to close this short. I still believe it is coming down. Right after the Olympics when everyone comes back to earth about expectations and reality about China.
