As I stated about Wal-Mart, with the continuing trend of higher prices for food and gas, people will have to find ways of "penny pinching" now more than ever. People will be forced to buy new items from low-cost stores such as Wal-Mart and Big Lots. ...

This is a good Columbus based company. I believe the stock has room to grow. However, as with any discount retailer, check the expiration dates on any foodstuffs you purchase there.

Today's drop might make for a good entry point. The news really wasn't that bad, a minor drop in Q4 estimates and flat same store sales. I still think discount retailers should do ok in a bad economy and based on forward p/e, cash flow, etc. BIG mig...

Discount stores are a good pick in a bad economy. Big Lots keeps a flexible inventory and good retail locations.
