Long-term biotech play. Biotech has been weak, and BIIB has actually held up pretty well. The return of Tysabri to the market -- albeit in a limited distribution program to start -- is promising, and the stock's rise since November reflects that. Biogen is one of those mega-biotechs that has a few blockbuster drugs and the prospects for more ahead. I view it as a passive stock to be held and added to on dips.

Have learned in my short time investing in biotechs that it's better to be in large cap than small cap's. Believe the reason is the clinical trials require large sums of mony which forces the smaller companies to team up with large partners, who then takes a large share of the gains. The ability to get by the FDA and get a drug to market is a core competency of these mega-biotechs. BIIB's other core compentency is manfacturing of biologicals, which is quite different from the chemical's of Merk etc. BIIB's final advantage is it's focus on the immune system and the host of auto-immune diseases which the aging baby boomers are suffering from.

Absolutely, I believe (as my CAP prediction states...) that BIIB will have a near term correction.. LT, it's hard to go wrong w/ nearly any of the well est. biotechs w/ curr 700M dollar prod. and est. pipelines. Regards!
