Citigroup will be hit hard by the upcoming recession and by massive customer defaults on loans. Hard for this stock to match the S&P because it is so big, it cannot grow very fast any more. I see this bank as an underperformer.

Recession is coming - consumer stocks will be hit once the US consumer finally runs out of cash and nobody will lend him any more. Only stocks deriving most of their income or growth from overseas (e.g. tobacco, oil) will hold up.

C's down now, sentiment's against it, it could even go down further (MLEC?). Execution is a concern, it hasn't backed up its advertising with quality follow-through. However, C's global franchise is still intact, and poised to ride worldwide growth....

Company is profitable and will roar back as soon as it gets past the write-downs and the real estate market comes back. Dividend will increase in 2008 is my prediction and so will the stock!

Citigroup makes the Titanic looks like a speedboat. The company has more internal and external regulators watching over every thing it does, however, the company still finds itself with dubious financials with the off balance sheet SIVs, nothing ille...
