COP's recent drubbing on low oil prices is of no consequence. The company has recently made a number of moves in high-risk, high-return areas such as Russia (with LUKOIL), Venezuela, the Middle East and Asia. The upside potential, especially for Russia, is large. Their refining margins have recently been well above historical levels, and they have a growing stake in LNG infrastructure, a fuel that should become quite important not too far in the future. Also, Warren Buffet has taken a stake in COP.
