I work in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry with IT products, companies that compete with salesforce.com.Large companies that run SAP and other ERP, Customer systems are invested in these giant systems. At the same time the same companies are not convinced their employees are ready to interface with these applications. Salesforce.com is raking in companies that can interface with these institutionalized products. The applications they can provide are not groundbreaking or remarkable, but they work. Using web applications to interface with embedded systems like SAP is cheaper, faster, and "better" than training employees to use the systems they have. The stock is a little too expensive, however the balance sheet will catch up as the small one off applications that already have large customers with similar products get swept up into salesforce.com's bundle of applications.

Not True,These products do not require much training they are built on the Amazon purchase system principal. Amazon has no instruction book. You can just use it.Salesforce have built a new industry in Software as a Service, the more competitors they get the better their system looks. I know plenty of companies that are not allowing microsoft products in their doors any more, as they can do it all online. These companies are usually using Salesforce.
