I picked Ceragon just to watch them, as they are a major competitive threat to my real holding in Dragonwave. I understand Dragonwave to have the superior products, but things can change quickly with cutting-edge technology companies. Ceragon is a bit larger, has better distribution channels and a more diverse customer base. I might just switch to equal positions in both of them and see how it develops over the next year or two.
FWIW - not an expert, but have been following the LTE -WiMax story for a year and it appears that all providers are on an expansion binge that should benefit CRNT and DRWI. Check out the Yahoo DRWI board if you haven't already.
I've finally decided to close out my Dragonwave position as their revenue keeps falling as the market size is increasing. The larger players seem to be getting most of the orders, even though my original research found that the equipment installers would generally recommend DRWI over their competitors. I need to absorb this lesson, that bureaucrats place the orders, not the people on the front line.
The other general rules that I intentionally violated were 1) dependence on one customer = bad, 2) cutting-edge technology companies often have fleeting success.
I've cleverly placed the funds from this sale into a solid Chinese company with a P/E of 4. China's good, right?
As to Ceragon, I never established a real position, so that's not an issue. For CAPS purposes, they're borderline for being culled. I need to go through the last two 10Q's to see why they're declaring small losses (or looses as they say on the Internet) and why analysts predict a buck profit next year.
