$1/rental redbox vs $9/month netflix... I could rent 9 movies in 1/3 the span of time a netflix subscription could only get me 4 movies. Part of what makes netflix profitable is the delay in the time it takes for a movie to get mailed back and forth, so they're going to have to come up with a completely different payment structure for online movies, and there's a TON of competition in that arena right now. The whole Roku box with TV-shows-I-could-easily-watch-on-the-web and old-movies-I've-already-seen-a-hundred-times thing isn't going to work either unless they get the newest releases available on that thing. Now we're talking about licensing (iTunes is way ahead on this). They ought to buy out RedBox to give themselves some cushion while they figure the online stuff out. They wouldn't even have to change colors, they could just slap the word "NetFlix" in front of RedBox.
