Taking my beating on uvxy and xiv, volitily, or "fear index" can be erratic. I don't think the FED will help this week. Overall, elections usually settle down the market short term. In this case Republicans want the economy to tank badly the next few months, Democrats want it "look better" than it is. Guess which one has the most money........

Pure speculation play, playing VIX up as the natural trend is down with expenses and rollovers pulling down these "funny" money plays.

Why are you closing this on a split?

Sometimes my way out of the "money" preset limits I toss in sometimes to remind me which picks I'm "watching" bite me in the ....@#$#,

Especially when I didn't see the split coming. I shouldn't do that on ETF's.

I did report to the MODS that it did a 1:10 and I expect my 450 or so points to disappear rapidly and I'll book my lost accuracy.
All in all, while the fiscal cliff fix is temporary, I doubt I could have made back up the 4 months worth of decay.

Too bad they didn't fix it the same day so my "graph" doesn't have the ETF spliter hiccup....

Ok now its starting to makes sense!

Actually if you ask me- this is very erratic behavior in the VIX - and I dont think it bodes well for the future.

No Vix activity is definitely not right....ETF specific behaviour aside.

The spending side will kick things up again. I don't think they will reset the debt limit without some volitility. I also think that most companies valuations have expectatoins that are still too high. Europe didn't just "go away". Some things linger and accumulate.

But then again, it's Mr. Market. Who knows! ;)

good luck!
