I've actually been watching this stock for about six months and probably should have picked it in January when it was at its 52-week low. Unfortunately, I was too busy following the industry and not the company. Excellent management has put CX in great position. With operations in more than 50 countries and very smart acquisitions, CX has the advantage of locating its production close to its demand which is expected to grow by 4% annually for some years. By locating production close to demand, they have automatically hedged against currency fluctions. Competition feels the barrier to entry into this market because of transportation costs.
Although U.S. home construction is tanking, CX management has aggresively pursued the infrastructure market which should somewhat offset declines in U.S. home construction. CX will be a great long-term hold.
I never worry about trying to catch the 52 week low because there is no telling if it will continue to fall. I like to see six to eight weeks of steady climb on the charts where lows never drop back to the 52 week low before jumping into the water. I may not catch a stock at its bottom but rarely do I take additional loss that way. Long term Cemex is in very good standing internationally and is good solid stock investment.
