Based on valuation alone Delta should outperform however they should have hedged their fuel cost going forward and the Northwest synergies should kick in soon as well. Cost cutting efforts over the last year should also add tto the bottm line. A better economy will provide a double in less than 12 months.

Unless DAL improves on their customer service it will hinder the profit. It is hard to believe how their Customer Service has decayed over time. The change in polices from customer service to make the dollar at any cost will hurt them. Two examples that I observed recently I could not believe. In Atlanta I oberved several passsengers left at the gate when the Flight left the gate before scheduled departure when there was still time left to accommodate these passengers and still depart on schedule. Then in Boston I oberved a passeng that was holding a reservation on a later flight that day request to standby on a flight and advised it would cost him $50. The flight he requested had open seats and accomodating him on this flight would have made available a seat on the flight he had a reservation on. This rule did nothing but make a customer unhappy with Delta and would not have been a negative to their profit. These two examples are not Delta's past policy of taking care of the customer.
