Twenty years ago, computers were at a crossroads between the high end industrial version, and the hacker DIY version. Today there's a computer (or 2 or 3) in ever household.3D Printers are currently at that same crossroads. Industrial 3D Printers have been in existence for years, and just in the past few years, a larger hacker DIY movement has picked up. It's only a natural progression of technology for these two tracts to meet somewhere in the middle for a consumer version.
