I have been delivering Domino's Pizza for the last 6 years and have witnessed marketing flop after marketing flop. I've pondered many times starting my own franchise only to snap back to reality and shout out, "Why?!"
This company doesn't do ANYTHING right. Domino's marketing campaigns are absolutely horrible and its more fixated on its old 30 minute delivery philosophy and acting as "Big Brother" than profitability.
Domino's lost the only competitve advantage it had when it decided to raise the price of the 555 Deal to $5.55 a piece and Pizza Hut took the plunge to $5 a pizza. Pizza Hut has stuffed crust, Papa John's has long-standing specialty pizzas and chicken strips that don't cost an arm and a leg, and Domino's has literally NOTHING to offer that other pizza company's don't. And when they do develop somewhat of a great idea, they say it's not profitable and pull the plug. Oh by the way... why are they dumping so much money into ideas that don't even generate sales?! "You Got 30" and "Pizza Tracker" are two giant wastes of money that will yield no returns!
Earnings come out on Feb. 26, expect it to miss badly... and the next quarter, and the next quarter, and FOREVER.
amen! We have owned one for 9 years and have seen nothing but bad decisions from DPI. you hit the nail on the head here
Check out the Dominos investors website.Last "special dividend" was 96% RETURN OF CAPITAL, in other words not earned, serious investors know that return of capital is never good, a dividend is great when it is a qualified dividend.
Disagree with the Pizza Tracker being a flop. Dominos has done a great job of bringing their ordering process online. In the long term this is the kind of move that will cause individual stores to get out more orders (because they'll be answering less phone calls), and the orders they have will be more accurate (leading to less loss).
