In order to head off Liberty Media, NWS will trade their interest in DTV for Liberty Media's share holdings in DTV. During An NWS shareholders meeting, Murdoch, who would not elaborate on the details, stated "he has two minds about selling DTV after having fought so hard to acquire the asset. However, he acknowledged the heightened competitive challenges of the Triple Play on the satellite company, but was optimistic about the opportunities from DTV's new satellites, which deliver high definition with a three-year lead on the cable providers, according to CSFB. " The future value of DTV is growing due to the competive advantage over cable for high definition content which will translate into future earnings growth relatively without competition.
