It's transitioning from a growth stock to a value stock (see Microsoft). It spent too much on Skype, which won't help it in the short term. I can't see a catalyst for growth unless they buy into a hot concept that takes off (like News Corp spending $580 million on MySpace). Organic growth prospects look grim.

I'd much rather see eBay spend money on its existing properties instead of trying to buy its way out of trouble. Skype doesn't really fit into eBay's core strengths, they just picked it up to keep Google from growing stronger and having another client for Google Pay or whatever their PayPal competitor is. I love half.com but eBay treats it like an unloved step-child. They were going to shut it down a few years ago until user protests kept the site alive - but eBay hasn't developed it in years and years. It barely integrates with the eBay site, it funnels users to eBay.com but eBay doesn't send any buyers back to half.com. They haven't even set up half.com to work with PayPal, which is by far their best property. If eBay hadn't bought PayPal, PayPal would by now be buying eBay.

Oh, and myspace is dying... Losing users because of constant spam and too much crap from idiot middle school kids. All my friends are deleting their accounts there. Facebook is the next big thing. The Facebook people have wisely chosen not to sell out - they've got a lot of potential and could become an independent Google, Yahoo, or eBay competitor. Just my rambling $.05 on a Friday night...
