Virtualization is the way of the future, and EMC is by far the leader here with its VMWare division. In the next two to three years you will see the vast majority of data centers and in-house server farms switching to virtualization. Do not be surprised when VMWare eventually overtakes the storage side of the business to become EMC's cash cow. Even better, the storage products allow EMC to offer the SAN hardware solutions needed by VMWare ESX Server for distributed, redundant, expandable storage. And that right there is what we call SYNERGY.
