Not sure what happened - I *thought* I put a $1.82 start order on this stock, which would have represented confirmation of a breakout from current levels. Instead the stock got purchased at $1.75. If this confirmation happens, then I'll be the beneficiary of a few more percentage points. But the fact of the matter is that confirmation has NOT yet occurred - and so this pick earns itself considerably increased risk.
Yup, there you go...the stock dabbled around $1.75 for a time, but never showed the ability to break through. And now it's retracted back down into the $1.50-$1.60 range. I'll hang on to it, because I think an eventual breakout is likely. But the chances of a breakdown can't be overlooked either. Mainly, however, I shake my fist at CAPS because I swear I asked for this stock to be bought only if it reached $1.82. And so I never should have had the stock picked in the first place!
A limit buy order (upthumb) price means that you "want" to buy the stock if it is LESS than your limit.
CAPS did as you instructed it.
There are no "if" "then" options. You can always set your limit buy very low and then raise it if you want later.
Looks like a bit of a late day rally as earnings finally get adjusted in. $0.06, if sustainable is a nice "turn around" after the two executives left when it first plunged from $3.6x.
Good luck.
Thanks for the info TSIF. In the end things seem to have worked out for me, and for ES. Indeed, I actually benefit on two fronts: my prediction that ES was in bad need of a correction came to pass, and my entry at $1.75 instead of $1.82 ended up earning me a couple of extra CAPS points. So I have little to complain about. I ended up cashing out of ES at $2.39, thinking it better to take my chips off the table before something bad happened. But I'll be curious to see just how high ES can go - who knows, maybe another compelling entry point will present itself.
