HOLY CRAP!!!! they still sell this stock. I am going to buy it because Henry Ford came to me in a dream and told me to.... and also because for the price of a new mustang I can actually own half the company.
lol
And have enough pride not to take the handout of death (bailout) and not to cower in front of congress when you now dam well the destroyed your industry trying to control it. Ford gets A1 for Semblance of pride. Down with pinko GM
Ditto! I think Ford will come back with the model A of green cars. They may yet fool everyone.
Good luck on that warranty
The new Hybrid Ford Fusion is the start of their turn around. Not only does it get better gas mileage than a Camry (and significantly better off highway, by several MPG not just 1 or 2), it's a better looking car inside and out, better designed. We will have to see on quality, but the drive for quality has pretty much put them on par with Honda and Toyota. Ford got fortunate in that they restructured their debt at great terms before all this stuff started. Their manufacturing scale is compact compared to Toyota and GM, that allows them to turn down manufacturing without creating overhang on the market. Toyota by comparison right now is actually getting hurt badly by a) a stronger yen to dollar, b) a massive manufacturing footprint that they can't scale back easily causing severe overhang of supply c) they were in the middle of big expansion, the last 5 years they've been financing this expansion with loans and not profits, profits went into dividends and research and tech. I'd actually be short Toyota still here. I might go long Ford on the back end (i.e. we're going to return to the 675 range on the S&P you can buy ford at a better price point and also be more sure if they are going to turn it around later this year)
Ford has 4 billion in cash...they haven't takn a penny from the Gov. (that's you and me buddy) Their market share has already improved - look it up. The quality rating on their cars and trucks is as high or higher than Toyota or Honda! - look that up too. Volvo looks like it will be sold for about 6 billion. I admit it's a hold if you're short, and not a typical buy candidate, but this market is about those of us that can guess enough of the stocks when they are at or near their low and buy. I am not an option buyer - don't know how. My bet is i could learn from you; but, I bought 1000 shares at $1.51 and talked my son into buying at $1.76. I think it's still a buy at under $3.00Ford is undervalued...and it's a "I think Ford will be here in ten years and worth more than $3 candidate....lastly...and think about this. I also believe there will be a little (not crazy) but a little buy American sentiment during this recovery. Last I saw Ford is still all-american and may just become known as America's car.
What is it about "CRAP" that is "HOLY?" It seems to me that almost anything else would be more holy. But then, that's just me.
toyota and money are our only true gods
LOL!! Thank you. That was the funniest thing I have read today! Own half the company.....omg! that is so funny!!
I'm pretty shocked by this comeback and wonder how long it will last. Is the price now based on overconfidence because they declined the bailout, or will they really come through with great affordable green cars? It's also weird that their trucks are now selling like hotcakes since the decline of GMC's brands - which runs counter to the 'green company' claims.
What matters is sales and profit. If they gain market share by selling green cars so be it but their trucks are very popular as well. I see them gaining a lot of Market share with Chrysler on Life support and GM barely better and likely headed for Bankruptcy.
I don't think the earnings power is there yet to support a $20+ Billion market cap. They still have over $17 Billion in NEGATIVE equity on the books and it is pretty expensive for them to borrow money.
Also, Ford's earnings results are very seasonal (look at individual quarters from recent years). It is not uncommon for Ford to post a big profit one quarter and then a huge loss the next. I suspect that they've been working off inventory and slowing production and this is the catalyst for their recent quarterly profit.
YES, YES, YES! I bought low but have reuped (albeit @ 5.50 range). We shuld givie The Good Chairman @ Ford his due; at lest they're selling of th appropriate assets. Please have a bit of faith in an American company doing best in class. W/ the new lines, we can afford to have (financial) faith in Ford. Hey guys, we gotta support what few American Brands we can. Have sold for profit, but now I'm keeping.
