In a zone from Mexico through Texas to Canada the wind map shows great predictability. It's always windy. Additionally that region of the US has very few back yards from which naysayers can lodge complaints. Nolan County Texas has 3,600 wind turbines and 16,000 residents. A transmission line (their third) has finally been approved by the folks over Dallas way. Texas is suffering a drought, big time, but the wind is blowing every week (24/7). The cotton farmers whose plantings never broke the soil surface in 2011, will sit back and watch those turbines spin while waiting for their water to come back--maybe next year. They'll invest some that crop insurance money in FAN cause they know a bargain when they see one, and they know too that nothing is going to stop that wind.
