NOTWITHSTANDING the fact that I was one of the 1st 200 pilots hired at Federal Express, in 1975 -and bought the stock at the original IPO price, FedEx has got all their ducks in a row.

They have the route structure, the current and planned Hubs, the right mix of aircraft, foreign shipping companies aquired -and most importantly, a stable relationship with the pilot group (only union on the property) after screwing with them for more than two years since the last contract expired.

They have all the competition beat by a country mile and set for future world-wide expansion. My only problem is that the stock SHOULD have split again, around the $90 mark.

If your only problem is that the stock didn't split, I would count your blessings.

A stock split does absolutely nothing for the value of the shares. $100 is $100 whether you have a $100 bill or 2 $50s.

While there is often a short term gain due to a split, it doesn't take long to get absorbed back in to the valuation. If anything a split is bad. It cost money to carry out for the company and increases liquidity which can also increase volatility.

I'm here reading your comments because I'm very interested in FedEx. I didn't know they owned Kinko's (I guess being out of the country did it), but I had a great experience at one of their combined stores recently. What a great synergy!
