nearly a 4% yield here after a 7 cent earnings miss. with the republican primary decided early advertising not as strong as it could be. international business booming. still a significant backlog for all things green in the industrial space. potential for asset write-ups on the financial side in the future. this may take a bit to move but we get paid to wait with the dividend.

I think anyone considering investing in GE should order a copy of their annual report from their site. It is very well written, and the CEOs compensation is largely based on stock performance, and how much the stock beats the S&P 500. A lot of compensation for their employees is directly aligned with increasing shareholder value. Granted GE has not outpaced the S&P in the past 5 years, I would still feel very comofrtable investing here if I were seeking a solid large cap stock with a nice dividend.

Not to mention this is a huge cash cow, they have some $18 billion left in free cash after paying their dividend. Talk about a solid company to hold your money in, and about a 99.99% chance of seeing future dividend raises every year for many years to come.

In my mind, GE is clearly transforming itself into an energy company. From its position in nuclear power, through to its commitment to alternative energy, this company has the depth of capital, expertise, reputation, and distribution to become the "powerhouse in power". In the near future, the world will be less dependent on fossil fuels, and GE will be at the centre of the alternatives.

As well, this level of yield is too attractive to refuse - this is the type of "equity bond" that true value investors ought to grab.

I most strongly agree! GE is moving hard in to all technologies to generate electricity. Could a run like XOM just had be in the offing?

4% yield...that's good for traders but not investors. GE stock has become a trader's stock.
