Gold is as high as it will go. 1) The US dollar will not decline much further. The decline to this point has sown the seeds for its rebound. 2) As David Hume said, gold's value is mostly fictitious.

Gold's value is due to its monetary nature, and it is the wealthy that are putting their money in gold. They are concerned about currency devaluation. The currency can decline, but gold will maintain its value relative to all currencies.

There are serious and a well founded concerns that there could by hyper inflation and fast devaluation of US currency.

Goldcorp will decline due to changing business conditions, even if gold hits $800.

I made the mistake of shorting gold stocks a little too soon and took a beating with my score by doing so. Things are beginning to look to the upside though. I shorted approximately 15 gold companies, and intentionally went after the pink sheet mineral companies which were not profitable to begin with. Most of those companies will never turn a profit. It should be ugly in those stocks when the penny flippers begin to pull their money..... I agree with you wholeheartedly Socrates. People were throwing money at gold companies and completely ignoring the ridiculous multiples that the companies were trading at. Best of luck in the future!
