As of January 1st, 2008 Goldcorp has 43.4 million ounces of proven and probable gold reserves. Your analysis does not account for these assets which provide justification for the companies valuation. Gold companies are generally not adherent to traditional market metrics.

With today's (4/18) big drop in gold back to the $900 level, I strongly suggest that you unwind this short position. Whatever price GG shares reach this week will become a 3-4 year low. Fool on! :)

You could very well be right. None of those factors accounts for their reserves. That said, I am using CAPS to try different things in my actual portfolio. While I have had some success in other alternative fields, it is not consistent success. In this forum, I am seeing if I can accruately predict any given stocks' performance relative to the S&P 500 over 3 - 5 years. As of 3/10, it appeared to me that relative to the S&P 500, GG was overvalued.
