Gilead Sciences is an Israeli biopharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery, development, and commercialization of therapeutics for the treatment of life-threatening infectious diseases. It has an extremely rich pipeline and the stock sells at a forward P.E. of 22.6. Its products include Truvada, Viread, Atripla, and Emtriva for the treatment of HIV infection in adults; Hepsera for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B; AmBisome to treat serious invasive fungal infections; Flolan for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary hypertension; and Vistide, a for the treatment of cytomegalovirus retinitis in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The company also offers Tamiflu, an antiviral for the treatment and prevention of influenza A and B; Macugen, for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration; and DaunoXome for the treatment of AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma. GILD is an aggressive growth stock with the same safety usually associated with old pharma.
