GIS is a steady performer with solid earning growth. The S&P have grown considerably in recent years with no substantial retrenching. It seems more likely that a fallback is upcoming before the next major advance can occur, especially in view of the high oil/gas prices, growing delinquincy of debt payments, higher interest rates, falling home sales, and the uncertainty of the next administration's policies on taxes and spending.
