Gold is riding on an unsupportable wave of pessimism. Might as well invest in ammunition (literally, not the munitions company), if you think the world economy is getting much worse than current conditions.

OK, this isn't my greatest area of expertise, but has anyone gone broke betting on a rise in the price of gold in the last 20 years? I don't think we've seen the last of the spikes.
