All cars are going down motorcycles will go up before cars and yes I'm saying that when I live in Minnesota. I once heard most cars on the road are on average 20 years old and most I see are 10+ years. Also cars are a American game any more. Some might say that’s a good thing but if they would just make a car with better gas mileage maybe I could afford to dive across town. this is simple people gas goes up and people can't afford there new cars.

There are better options I have heard of a car getting 100+ MPG and I have seen pictures of it. but still have to ask where is it? I saw on the discovery channel a show where they look at future cars. They had a car that ran on air (that is 0 carbon, no bad stuff and all the air is breathable). they had a concept built that I saw running yet that was year ago. what are people doing? oh yeah I bet you don't care that it only goes 60 MPH now (never understood why everyone thinks there always on the interstate and can go 75 also its only a 5 MPH drop you can't tell me 5 MPH is worth the soon to be $5 a gallon. That is the tip of the ice burg that makes this so frustrating to me. Oh I was going to note that there has be air cars made before as in there not new tech I think (could be mistaking since I haven’t read up on it in awhile) they started making air cars in the 70s during the first “gas crises” however no one seemed to like the idea then but has far as I can tell it should be a green light now.

You do realize that it takes a while for things to happen. Do a little research on the compressed air car. They are working on it....

I have done a lot of research on that. You need to back up what you say. Don't try to "school me" I bet I know more about it then you. Unless your on the team working on it. If you know so much about it how about telling me instead of criticizing me. Don’t take pot shots at people with out backing up what you say. Everyone knows development takes time don’t try to sound smart by pointing out the obvious.

Take it easy man. To be honest, your original pitch wasn't all that informative either. You pretty much just stated the obvious too.

That's no pitch against GM stock, it makes no reference to GM at all except in a most oblique way. When you flame someone be sure you're on solid ground yourself. For example, here's a link to information that refutes the first of your "I heard" statements: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/onh00/line3.htm The source is Ward's, a company well respected for its auto industry expertise. You say you've "done a lot of research..." but you come across as a person who's done none at all. So, do you have a take on GM stock? As you told the other respondent, "you need to back up what you say."

Nice post but lets broaden the picture. Sure we have oil problems but is a fast transition from oil going to solve anything. I think not. Reason being even if another auto is born to replace the 10 year old on the street everyone can't and won't buy them. The inital cost of such a vehicle would be less than cost effective. No one manufacturer is going to give you a vehicle that saves you oil dollars for nothing in return. Not even Toyota matter of fact especially not Toyota. For example look at Prius. The initial cost of the vehicle takes 5 years to recoup in fuel savings. All hybrids are sold on this basis.

As far as driving across town you can do it cheaper in a 10 year old auto than any new Hybrid on the market or anything new off the assembly line that is supposed to save fuel and that isn't going to change for quite a while. There will always be just as many fuel (Oil based ) vehicles on the highway as any other new technogy in the near future. Even the Volt won't change this fact. The Volt will sell and compete with all other forms of new technology as a second car but you can bet in the garage beside it will be an oil based vehicle. We have lived for over 30 years dealing with oil and still noithing has changed.....Tomorrow will be the same.
