Goldman Sachs has many things going in its favor. First, it is in an industry where many of direct competitors have gone by the waist side. With little competition, Goldman can charge higher prices, while also gobbling up the business left by its former competitors' void. Second, GS is in the process of completing its repayal of TARP money back to Uncle Sam. This shows that the institution is in great financial shape and eliminates the need to worry about insolvency. Third, the company can retain and reward its best talent because of its ablility to pay its people what it wants to. This will keep the company from losing its talent edge, which may have occured under government supervision. Finally, the company has a great history of destroying its earnings predictions, just as it did last quarter. Look for the company to post an amazing number in the upcoming earnings release in mid July. At the present time, I have little worry about Goldman, own the company, and look to hold on to it for the forseable future.
