HSBC was the johnny come lately of the Mortgage lending industry. They got their coffers full of JPY carry trade money and started borrowing, " Getting a loan, is as easy as 1,2,3 with HSBC" Said one of their slogans. The problem is, if banks were doing heavy mortgages from 03-04-05, HSBC just started lending Heavily in 05.
