What says American freedom and know-how more than a Harley? This symbol of America will do nothing but grab market share as our economy rises out of the ashes of this recession. Lot's of Boomers will eventually retire and go get their Harley.
Right On! Cutterpen above isn't with it. There are some of us still LIVING the life. I'm now 65 and have 50 years of Harley between my legs with over 1,000,000 miles.
Riding since 1971, I love the brand. Last 2 bikes were BMW (K1200LT, K1200GT). Quiet, powerful, NO vibration at triple digit speeds, heated seats and grips, ABS, ..... I know HD is sucking cash at an amazing rate, ergo my short move now. Did you see the results they just announced? Maybe $500,000,000 negative cash flow (in Jan-Sept 2009), excess inventory getting MORE EXCESS, and run rates in plants well below the FUN levels. Nothing against the HOG brand, it is a successful religion It's just business and making cash while they falter. They will be back, but now is not the time to stay long. Brand loyalty is wonderful and I remain loyal to the goal of long rides WITHOUT FAILURES. My Munich office leader is HOG president there. He loves them and he would NEVER be caught on a BMW. His car is a 12 cylinder Jag. I recruited him from BMW where he was chassis engineering section leader. He LOVES HD. I love good investments.
Good job Harley521. But the buyers of HD are not like you; they are wannabees with $$.
