Not coal- METALLURGICAL GRADE COAL. Big difference. You need met coal to do things like make concrete and steel, which the global economy is demanding a lot of these days. These guys have a whole lot of it. Also doesn't hurt to have favorable structural costs relative to competitors and a proven owner/investor in Will Ross running the show.
This is an $8.50 stock by December 2008.
I tried (really really tried) to learn about the nuances of coal but didn't have much luck. Any ideas about where to get started?
Try the annual reports. Coal is one of the easiest to learn about but the hardest to predict. Really there isn't much to it but the spread between total operations cost to mine the coal and the spot/negotiated price of the output.
